ന്യൂഡൽഹി∙ അഭ്യൂഹങ്ങൾക്കും ആരാധകരുടെ കാത്തിരിപ്പിനും വിരാമമിട്ട് ഇന്ത്യൻ പ്രിമിയർ ലീഗിന്റെ (ഐപിഎൽ) പുതിയ സീസണിലേക്ക് ഡൽഹി ക്യാപിറ്റൽസ് നായകനായി ഇന്ത്യൻ താരം അക്ഷർ പട്ടേലിനെ പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചു. നായകസ്ഥാനത്തേക്ക് കണ്ണുവച്ച് താരലേലത്തിൽ ‍സ്വന്തമാക്കിയ കെ.എൽ. രാഹുൽ താൽപര്യക്കുറവ് അറിയിച്ചതോടെയാണ് ഓൾറൗണ്ടറായ അക്ഷർ പട്ടേലിനെ നായകസ്ഥാനം ഏൽപ്പിക്കാൻ ഡൽഹി തീരുമാനിച്ചത്. ഇത്തവണ ചാംപ്യൻസ് ട്രോഫിയിൽ ഇന്ത്യയ്‌ക്ക് കിരീടം സമ്മാനിക്കുന്നതിൽ നിർണായക പങ്കുവഹിച്ച താരങ്ങളിൽ ഒരാളാണ് അക്ഷർ പട്ടേൽ.

2019 സീസൺ മുതൽ ഡൽഹിക്കു കളിക്കുന്ന അക്ഷർ ‍പട്ടേൽ, ഇതുവരെ 82 മത്സരങ്ങളിൽ കളത്തിലിറങ്ങി. കഴിഞ്ഞ സീസണിൽ റോയൽ ചാലഞ്ചേഴ്സ് ബെംഗളൂരുവിന് എതിരായ ഒറ്റ മത്സരത്തിൽ അക്ഷർ ഡൽഹിയുടെ താൽക്കാലിക നായകനായിരുന്നു. ഈ മത്സരം ഡൽഹി തോൽക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. ടീമിന്റെ സ്ഥിരം നായകനായിരുന്ന ഋഷഭ് പന്ത് കുറഞ്ഞ ഓവർ നിരക്കിനെ തുടർന്ന് ഒരു മത്സരത്തിൽ പുറത്തിരിക്കേണ്ടി വന്നപ്പോഴാണ് അക്ഷർ ടീമിനെ നയിച്ചത്.

ആഭ്യന്തര ക്രിക്കറ്റിൽ ഗുജറാത്തിനെ 16 മത്സരങ്ങളിൽ നയിച്ച് പരിചയമുള്ള താരമാണ് അക്ഷർ പട്ടേൽ. നിലവിൽ ഇന്ത്യൻ ക്രിക്കറ്റ് ടീമിന്റെ ട്വന്റി20 വൈസ് ക്യാപ്റ്റൻ കൂടിയാണ് അക്ഷർ പട്ടേൽ.
