കാറിന്റെ ഓഡോ മീറ്ററിൽ കൃത്രിമം കാണിച്ചതിന് ഡീലർക്ക് 10,4750 രൂപയാണ് കഴിഞ്ഞ ദിവസം മോട്ടോർ വാഹന വകുപ്പ് പിഴയിട്ടത്. എം.വി.ഡിയുടെ തൃശൂർ എൻഫോഴ്സ്മെന്റ് വിഭാഗമാണ് ഡീലറിൽ നിന്ന് കനത്ത പിഴ ഈടാക്കിയത്. വാഹനത്തിലെ ഓഡോ മീറ്ററിൽ കൃത്രിമം കാണിക്കുന്നുണ്ടെന്ന വിവരത്തെ തുടർന്ന് കഴിഞ്ഞ ദിവസം മുതൽ പരിശോധന ശക്തമാക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഏതാനും ദിവസങ്ങൾക്ക് മുമ്പ് ഒരു ബൈക്കിനും സമാനമായ കുറ്റത്തിന് പിഴയിട്ടിരുന്നു.
കൊടുങ്ങല്ലൂരിലെ ഷോറൂമിൽ നിന്ന് ഗുരുവായൂരിലേക്ക് ടെസ്റ്റ് ഡ്രൈവ്/ഡെമോൺസ്ട്രേഷനുവേണ്ട കാർ ഓടിച്ച് പോകുംവഴിയാണ് ദേശീയപാതയിൽ മതിലകത്തുവെച്ച് വാഹന പരിശോധന നടത്തുന്ന ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥർ ഈ കാർ പിടികൂടിയത്. തുടർന്ന് ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥർ കാർ ഓടിച്ച് നോക്കയപ്പോൾ മീറ്റർ പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നില്ലെന്ന് കണ്ടെത്തുകയായിരുന്നു. ഡിജിറ്റൽ മീറ്ററിന്റെ ഫ്യൂസ് ഊരിമാറ്റിയും അനലോഗ് മീറ്ററിന്റെ കേബിൾ വിച്ഛേദിച്ചുമാണ് ഇത്തരത്തിൽ തട്ടിപ്പുകൾ നടത്തുന്നത്.
ഇത്തരം വാഹനങ്ങൾക്ക് വാർഷിക റോഡ് നികുതി അടയ്ക്കാറില്ല. നികുതിയില്ലാതെ വാഹനം റോഡിൽ ഇറക്കിയതും ഓഡോ മീറ്ററിന്റെ കണക്ഷൻ വിച്ഛേദിച്ച് ഉപയോക്താക്കളെ വഞ്ചിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നത് കണക്കിലെടുത്താണ് 1,04,750 രൂപ പിഴ ഈടാക്കിയതെന്നാണ് റിപ്പോർട്ട്. മോട്ടോർ വെഹിക്കിൾ ഇൻസ്പെക്ടർ കെ.എസ്. സജിന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തിൽ നടത്തിയ പരിശോധനയിൽ എ.എം.വി.ഐമാരായ വി.സി. ബിജു, സുമേഷ് തോമസ്, സി.ബി. ബിജോയ് എന്നിവരാണ് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നത്.
വാഹനത്തിന്റെ ടെസ്റ്റ് ഡ്രൈവ്, വിവിധ സ്ഥലങ്ങളിലെ പ്രദർശന ക്യാമ്പുകളിൽ കൊണ്ടുപോകൽ, മറ്റ് ഷോറൂമിലേക്ക് സ്റ്റോക്ക് മാറ്റൽ, തുടങ്ങിയ ആവശ്യങ്ങൾക്കൊപ്പം സ്വകാര്യമായ ആവശ്യങ്ങൾക്ക് പുതിയ വാഹനം ഉപയോഗിക്കുമ്പോൾ ഓടുന്ന ദൂരം മീറ്ററിൽ രേഖപ്പെടുത്താതിരിക്കാനും, ഒട്ടും ഓടിയിട്ടില്ലാത്ത വാഹനമാണെന്ന് ഉപയോക്താക്കളെ തെറ്റിധരിപ്പിക്കാനും വേണ്ടിയാണ് ഓഡോ മീറ്ററിലെ ഈ കൃത്രിമം. ഇത് മോട്ടോർ വാഹന നിയമത്തിന്റെ ലംഘനമാണെന്നാണ് എം.വി.ഡി. അറിയിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളത്.
