കൊച്ചി∙ കബഡി ലോകകപ്പിനുള്ള ഇംഗ്ലണ്ട് വനിതാ ടീമിന്റെ ക്യാപ്റ്റനായി എറണാകുളം വൈപ്പിൻ നായരമ്പലം സ്വദേശി ആതിര സുനിൽ. ആതിരയ്ക്കു പുറമെ മൂന്നു മലയാളി വനിതകൾകൂടി  ടീമിലുണ്ട്. പുരുഷ ടീമിൽ രണ്ടു മലയാളികളും ഇടംപിടിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.

17 മുതൽ 23 വരെ ഇംഗ്ലണ്ടിലാണ് ഇന്ത്യയും പാക്കിസ്ഥാനും ഇറാനുമെല്ലാം പങ്കെടുക്കുന്ന കബഡി ലോകകപ്പ് മത്സരങ്ങൾ നടക്കുന്നത്.

കോട്ടയം ഏറ്റുമാനൂർ സ്വദേശിനി പ്രെസ്സിമോൾ കെ. പ്രെനി, തിരുവനന്തപുരം നെടുമങ്ങാട് സ്വദേശികളായ നീലിമ ഉണ്ണി, നീരജ ഉണ്ണി എന്നിവർ വനിതാ ടീമിലും മലപ്പുറം പൊന്നാനി സ്വദേശി കെ.മഷൂദ്, കാസർകോട് ചെറുവത്തൂർ സ്വദേശി അഭിജിത് കൃഷ്ണൻ എന്നിവർ പുരുഷ ടീമിലും ഇടം നേടി. ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് കബഡി ലീഗിൽ വനിതാ കിരീടം നേടിയ നോട്ടിങ്ങാം ക്വീൻസ് ടീമംഗങ്ങളാണു നാലു വനിതകളും. പുരുഷ വിഭാഗത്തിൽ റണ്ണർ അപ്പുകളായ നോട്ടിങ്ങാം റോയൽസ് അംഗങ്ങളാണു മഷൂദും അഭിജിത്തും.    മുൻ ഇംഗ്ലണ്ട് താരമായ മലയാളി മാത്യു സജുവാണ് പരിശീലകൻ.
