ഒരിക്കൽ ‘കുറ്റവിമുക്തരാക്കപ്പെട്ട’ സാമ്പത്തിക ക്രമക്കേട് കേസ്; ബ്ലാറ്ററും പ്ലാറ്റിനിയും വീണ്ടും കോടതിയിൽ

ബാസൽ (സ്വിറ്റ്സർലൻഡ്) ∙ ഒരിക്കൽ ‘കുറ്റവിമുക്തരാക്കപ്പെട്ട’ സാമ്പത്തിക ക്രമക്കേട് കേസി‍ൽ രാജ്യന്തര ഫുട്ബോൾ ഭരണസമിതി (ഫിഫ) മുൻ പ്രസിഡന്റ് സെപ് ബ്ലാറ്ററും യൂറോപ്യൻ ഫുട്ബോൾ ഭരണസമിതി (യുവേഫ) മുൻ പ്രസിഡന്റ് മിഷേൽ പ്ലാറ്റിനിയും സ്വിറ്റ്‌സർലൻഡിലെ കോടതിയിൽ. 2011ൽ പ്ലാറ്റിനിയുടെ പേരിൽ ഫിഫ 20 ലക്ഷം യുഎസ് ഡോളർ നൽകിയതുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട കേസിലാണ് ഇരുവരും വീണ്ടും കോടതിയിലെത്തിയത്.

2000 കാലഘട്ടത്തിൽ ചെയ്ത ‘ഒരു ജോലിക്ക്’ എന്ന പേരിലായിരുന്നു പണം നൽകിയത്. ഇത് അഴിമതിയാണെന്നായിരുന്നു  പ്രോസിക്യൂഷന്റെ വാദം. എന്നാൽ, ഇതിൽ നിയമവിരുദ്ധമായി ഒന്നുമില്ലെന്നും ഫിഫയുടെ എല്ലാ ചട്ടങ്ങളും പാലിച്ചാണു നടപടിക്രമമെന്നും ബ്ലാറ്റർ വാദിച്ചു. ‘ജന്റിൽ മാൻസ് ഡീൽ’ അംഗീകരിച്ച കോടതി ബ്ലാറ്ററെയും  പ്ലാറ്റിനിയെയും കുറ്റവിമുക്തരാക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. 

സ്വിസ് ഫെഡറൽ പ്രോസിക്യൂട്ടർ ഈ വിധിക്കെതിരെ നൽകിയ അപ്പീലിലാണ് 88 വയസ്സുകാരൻ ബ്ലാറ്ററും 69 വയസ്സുകാരൻ പ്ലാറ്റിനിയും വീണ്ടും കോടതി കയറിയത്. താൻ നിരപരാധിയാണെന്നു ബ്ലാറ്റർ കോടതിയെ ധരിപ്പിച്ചു. 20 ലക്ഷം യുഎസ് ഡോളർ പ്രതിഫലം നൽകിയതിൽ കുറ്റമില്ലെന്നു കോടതി നേരത്തേ വിധിച്ചിരുന്നു. അതിനാൽ അപ്പീലിന് അടിസ്ഥാനമില്ലെന്നായിരുന്നു പ്ലാറ്റിനിയുടെ അഭിഭാഷകന്റെ വാദം. കോടതി 25ന് വിധി പറയും.
